Looking to reach a wider audience by offering multiple languages in your videoask? You can only set one language per videoask, but with this simple workaround your audience can select their preferred language in the first videoask which redirects them to a second videoask in their selected language. In this workaround, we use redirects and multiple videoasks to set up this flow.
The redirect to a webpage feature allows you to send respondents to different webpages or videoasks. Start off by creating a videoask with a multiple choice answer type asking respondents to choose a language - think of this as a language menu. Then create separate videoasks for each language youād like to offer and link them to the answer options on the first videoask. Each answer option on the first videoask will redirect respondents to a separate videoask in their preferred language.
Note: The redirect to a webpage feature is only available on our paid plans.
You can change the language of your videoask to one of our supported languages or you can provide your own translations by creating a custom language.
Note: Changing the language setting of your videoask will only change the text of interface elements (buttons, prompts, etc.) and doesnāt provide translations for the text you add to the videoask (overlay text, answer choices, etc.).
Keep in mind that responses to each videoask will be collected in separate inboxes. If you have the same questions in each videoask language, you can export your responses and manually merge them into a spreadsheet for analysis.

Weāll begin by creating the first videoask where respondents can select their preferred language.
If this is your first time creating a videoask, we recommend taking a look at our beginner guide.
Create a one-step videoask with a multiple choice answer type.
Enter answer options for each language. In this example, we're offering the videoask in English and Spanish.
Click Done.
Build separate videoasks per language
Create a separate videoask for each of your languages. In this example, weāll create videoasks in English and Spanish.
After youāve created your videoasks, you can set the language for each one and the interface elements (buttons, prompts, etc) will change to the selected language.
Sign in to your VideoAsk account and navigate to the videoask you want to edit. Click Build.
Click Settings.
In the General tab, click the Language dropdown to change it.
Select a language from the dropdown list. In this example, weāll select Spanish.
Click Done.
Repeat these steps for each videoask youāve created.
š”Tip: Add the language to your videoask title to help organize which language the videoask is in.
Redirect respondents to their preferred language
Once youāve created your videoasks, link them together by redirecting each answer/language option to the corresponding videoask.
Copy the URL of the Spanish videoask.
Head over to your language menu videoask and click Build.
Click the Multiple Choice answer step to open the sidebar.
Click the Logic tab.
Click on the Spanish answer option and paste the URL youāve copied from step 1 in the Redirect to URL field. Click Save.
Repeat these steps for each language/answer option.
š”Pro tip: If youāre embedding your videoask on your website, you can redirect respondents within your iframe. This means respondents can complete the videoask theyāre redirected to directly within your embedded iframe on your website so they donāt have to leave the page. Just add the parameter ?redirect_target=self to the end of the URL when pasting the embed code into your HTML editor.Ā
